Sexual exploitation and abuse: UN field support chief reiterates zero-tolerance policy
There is zero-tolerance for acts of sexual exploitation and abuse - including violations by peacekeeping forces, however few - committed under the UN flag. 'Protectors cannot be predators,' said UN Under-Secretary-General for Field Support, Atul Khare, in a recent interview, as he reiterated the world body's commitment to eliminating the scourge of sexual exploitation and abuse. Mr. Khare also outlined measures taken by the Organization, in order to ensure that actions are taken against the perpetrators, and that assistance - along with confidence - are provided to the victims and their families.
